Eddsworld is Eddsworld Going to Continue
Eddsworld Beyond [1] (also known as #EWBeyond)[2] refers to the third and most recent era of Eddsworld. It is directed by Matt Hargreaves.
History
On March 16, 2016, Matt Hargreaves tweeted "Today, a chapter of @Eddsworld will end and a new one will begin, we're not sure where the future will take us but I hope you'll join us." [3], confirming that he would continue Eddsworld after the conclusion of Eddsworld: Legacy.
On January 1, 2017, Eddsworld.co.uk was reopened with new comics and reconfirmation that new Eddisodes were still in production.[4]. Matt followed this up with two Reddit posts reconfirming the show would continue on November 1, 2017[5] and May 18, 2018.[6] In the second post, he detailed that production had been delayed due to technical problems, but that they were still hard at work and rebuilding the online store.
The online store officially opened on November 13, 2018[7] and an official Discord server was opened on February 24, 2019.[8] Also around this time, promotional drawings and short animations started being posted on the shows various social media platforms.
On July 31, 2020, the Eddsworld intro song was posted to the show's official Instagram story with no context. This led many to believe that the show would be returning soon.
On August 1, 2020, Eddsworld Beyond's first official short, Fan Service 2, was released along with the show's official Patreon.[9]
It was confirmed at MCM London 2017 (and later on Eddsworld.co.uk) that George Gould would be the new voice of Edd, replacing Tim Hautekiet. Brock Baker confirmed on TikTok that he would return to voice Eduardo. However, in Casting Call, both Baker and the original voice of Eduardo, Chris O' Neill, make an appearance. It was later confirmed in the comments of Casting Call Bloopers & Deleted Scenes that both actors would simultaneously voice the character, switching out whenever necessary.[10]
Ed Templer was cast as the new voice of Tom starting with Beaster Bunny, replacing Thomas Ridgewell.
