Video Review & Installation
Hey, guys, Stephanie with americanmuscle.com here with an overview of the Ford Racing Coyote Crate Engine, a directly replacement for the 2015 and up S550 GT Mustang. In this video, we're gonna go over some of the details of this motor, including some specs, and touch upon the install. Evidently for the install, we're talking near a full motor swap here, so information technology's gonna be a three-out-of-three wrenches on the scale and in most cases, information technology's gonna require the help of a professional. This motor is the directly stock replacement for the 2015 and up v.0-liter, so information technology's a not bad pick for those S550 owners out there that have already pushed the limits of their stock cake and found the breaking point and that don't wanna upgrade. Merely at the same fourth dimension, it'southward also a bully option for a project machine or rolling chassis, not simply an S550. These motors have great capabilities unopened and right from the mill, which makes information technology one to consider for other platforms and years also. Jumping right into the heart of this, this motor isn't new to the scene, merely I'm still gonna go over some of the specs here. This motor as it sits right here makes 435 horsepower at 6500 RPM and 400 foot pounds of torque just over 4200 RPM with that 11:1 compression ratio, which are the standard stock numbers so y'all aren't lacking there. This is the modern dual overhead cam 5.0-liter with twin independent variable camshaft timing. This is too an aluminum block with aluminum heads, only it has a agglomeration of goodies in the bottom end to make information technology a stout block that tin handle a skilful amount of horsepower and torque. We're talking cross-bolted main begetting caps and thick master begetting bulkheads for bottom end strength. And of course aluminum pistons with forged rods and a forged creepo, which are some of the best things about this motor. I mentioned this before, just this motor does well with both NA and with boosted applications and can really handle quite a bit of power. It'due south function of the reason why I similar it so much. It's a great foundation for a pretty serious build. To compare this cake to the previous '11 to '14 Coyote motor, this one does take slightly more power and it'southward even more fuel efficient. This block borrows some of the upgraded components from the Boss 302 Mustang, which I already mentioned before with the forged connecting rods and the forged crank. And I already said that the cake is all aluminum, but information technology does have thinner walls than its predecessors. The walls are sleeved with press-in iron sleeves, but they have a ii millimeter larger diameter than the 4.6-liter engine because the sleeves are thinner than they previously were. Merely none of this compromises the engine. Like I said before, it is a stout engine. Now the pistons are not forged pistons, but they do have slightly unlike valve clearance notches when compared to the 'eleven to '14 engine and this is because the new-new [SP] here has larger valves. And since we're on valves, we tin just keep on that aforementioned track and I'll say now that the heads are as well new castings that have better catamenia capabilities thankfully. Now of course I touched on the cams a footling flake earlier, only those are different, too. They're larger and lumpier than the previous Coyote and of course the valve springs needed to be inverse to accommodate that, and so these ones are stiffer. The long block is gonna come with an eight quart chapters oil pan and your exhaust manifolds equally well. And since this is a long block, information technology's of course gonna come up with a stock intake manifold and the 80 millimeter throttle torso. Ford Racing does also include a manual transmission engine harness and a flywheel as well, only they practise not include the vehicle harness, the PCM, the alternator or the engine comprehend kit. So this is going to require the Engine Control Pack and the Alternator Kit and the exact Ford part numbers are listed on the production page. Now unfortunately I can't make any promises on exactly what the motor can and can't handle, power- and torque-wise, merely there are plenty of modified Coyotes out there property up with double the stock output and this motor does well under whatever modifications, plain and simple. I other thing that I wanted to mention is that this crate engine does come with a 2-year, 24,000 mile warranty from Ford Racing for replacement or repair, and then in that location is a little chip of peace of mind at that place. Equally far equally price goes, y'all're looking at near $seven,000 correct here for the long cake. Of form you're looking at spending more than for the other items that you need, but Ford Racing does offer this same crate engine paired with the Engine Control Pack for about $two,000 more, but you're still looking at needing the alternator kit on top of that. Or if you're looking to upgrade, you can e'er bank check out the Aluminator for a couple 1000 more. When it comes to the install, I hinted at this earlier, merely this is gonna be a full three-out-of-three wrenches on the difficulty meter and a weekend in the garage with a helping manus. The time and the difficulty of the install will change depending on what you're installing this into, but no affair what, you're still looking at a lot of work and needing an unabridged toolbox to get the task done. Pulling a motor is no easy job unless y'all have a ton of experience. Your best bet would be to admission a elevator, take a cherry picker and an engine stand and a trans jack equally well. Honestly this is an install for a professional unless you have the tools and know how to do it yourself or you have some friends or family that have pulled a motor or two earlier. I wouldn't say that this is something y'all should try on your own unless you have some noesis. Wrapping things upward hither with the Ford Racing Coyote 5.0-liter Crate Engine, this is a direct replacement for the S550 GT Mustang, but it'southward a stiff and capable motor for any chassis. This is a consummate long block that comes very virtually fix to drop in and it makes 435 horsepower at the crank. Now there's a lot going on with this engine, then you guys should cheque it out more online for yourselves. And for all things Mustang, go on it right here at americanmuscle.com.
